What To Expect

You can expect a warm welcome from individuals who care about you. The Lords Church in Roans Prairie/Shiro Civic Center is made up of everyday people just like you. We meet at the Roans Prairie Community Center/Shiro Civic Center. This is our temporary meeting place until property can be secured. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable as soon as you arrive. Remember that we care about your soul. We would like you to join us for a simple worship service that adheres to the teaching of the New Testament.

Singing

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16). The whole congregation joins together in praising God in song without the use of musical instruments. We use songbooks to assist us in singing.

Praying

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving" (Colossian 4:2). Our prayers are expressions of thanksgiving, praise, and petitions to God.

Taking the Lords Supper

"Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread..." (Acts 20:7). The Lord's Supper serves as a weekly reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus. The unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (grape juice) are emblems that symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Preaching

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17). We invite you to hear and learn God's Word so that you may grow in your faith.

Giving

"On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come" (1 Corinthians 16:2). Members of the congregation contribute as they have been prospered on the first day of the week. This supports our work locally and overseas. We do not expect vistors to give anything while taking up the collection.
